Amyloid

Amyloid is an abnormal, insoluble protein fiber that misfolds and builds up in tissues and organs. When these proteins accumulate, they cause a group of conditions known as amyloidosis (which damages organs like the heart, kidneys, and brain) and play a major role in neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer’s disease.
